GDC Video Hands-on: Game Room (Xbox Live)
by Ignoroneemess on Mar.10, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Microsoft is here at GDC showing off its upcoming Game Room service, and we got it on video just for you . The experience is probably exactly what you expected, but it’s worth noting that while the service does utilize Avatars, you don’t actually walk around the virtual arcade as your Avatar. Instead, the arcade rooms are essentially interactive menus (though you can select to play the classic arcade games from a normal menu, if you prefer). Check out our video preview above for a quick look at Game Room, which arrives on March 24 . GDC Video Hands-on: Game Room (Xbox Live) originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 10 Mar 2010 16:00:00 EST.

EA, Namco Networks gauge ‘Apple Tablet’ gaming possibilities
by Ignoroneemess on Jan.26, 2010, under Gadgets, Mac, Media, Video Games, iPhone, iPod
“If it’s got a great screen, some buttons, you can turn it on and it connects to the Internet, it’s got the ability to be a games machine.” That’s what EA Sports president Peter Moore shared on Apple’s heavily rumored tablet device, predicted to be unveiled during a media event this Wednesday. Moore recently told Bloomberg that his knowledge on the project was derived from media reports — in which case he must know about the connection drawn between EA and the unannounced device’s game offerings. In the same report, Jon Kromrey, general manager of Apple games at Namco Networks America (which recently trumpeted 23 million downloads on iPhone and iPod Touch), expresses a notable amount of optimism regarding the platform’s gaming possibilities. “I’m having fun thinking about all the wonderful things we can do with the device when it’s announced,” he said.

GameInformer ( 85/100 ): “Even without a clear narrative purpose, Darksiders never wavers from being an enjoyable adventure. I had a blast playing it, and strangely enough, the obvious nods to other games added to the fun. Despite a lame last boss fight, the setup planted for the sequel has me counting the days until it arrives.” GameTrailers ( 84/100 ): “Darksiders has a lot of staples in its stable

BioWare: Mass Effect 2 DLC could include ‘full expansion packs’
by Ignoroneemess on Dec.18, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
In a recent interview with CVG , BioWare producer Adrien Cho assured that the plan isn’t to jettison Mass Effect 2 into the deep, dark retail space without some form of continued support. According to Cho, some of the core development team has already moved on to creating DLC for the game, which could range from new items, including weapons and armor, to side quests that might even build “up to full expansion packs.” Cho added that the team has more flexibility to create DLC for the sequel than it did for the first game , explaining that add-on content “was always on our radar from day one.” It sounds like BioWare has big plans for Mass Effect 2 DLC.

Stop Stress by destroying everything in new WiiWare game
by Ignoroneemess on Nov.02, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games, Windows
Stop Stress sounds like one of those My Coach non-games for DS: based on the title, we’d assume it would be full of relaxing exercises and tips about reducing the strain of daily life. But Abylight’s Stop Stress: A Day of Fury on WiiWare encourages its players to take their stress out on the virtual world by beating everything nearby to pieces. Swinging the Wii Remote to control the arm of Jack, a stressed-out guy in a world that grows increasingly hostile as he gets more worked up, players use bats, axes, and other weapons to smash everything in sight. According to the ESRB description , “One mission is to ’search and destroy all the alarm-clocks’ by using a soft slipper; another mission requires players to ‘break all the windows and escape from the evil traffic jam.’” Publisher Abylight expects to release Stop Stress this fall. Try not to get too anxious for it! Second Borderlands mockumentary episode has Claptrap flapping his trap some more
by Ignoroneemess on Sep.26, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
The Borderlands mockumentary, starring foul-mouthed unicycle robot Claptrap, continues telling us the untrue story and unreal problems behind the creation of the game. Steering clear of a full-blown Christian Bale freakout like the first video , this one goes more for that Hollywood name-dropping meets The Office feel.
