by JuanGuanTaran on Feb.04, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
You know Gamer , right? That movie with a pasty-faced kid controlling human prisoners in a future game? Well, it turns out that the film almost ended up as a Grand Theft Auto joint. According to a recent interview with co-writer/director Mark Neveldine, “We [Neveldine and co-writer Brian Taylor] actually were going to be hired to write GTA

Man rocks us to the core with a Koopa Troopa electric guitar
by JuanGuanTaran on Dec.31, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
We were just about to label 2009 the “Worst Year Ever in the History of Time,” but … but then this happened. From the depths of Reddit come a quintet of images of an unnamed musical engineer’s latest project: An electric guitar shaped like a Koopa Troopa . We’re so glad these pictures exist, because we’re not sure our mind’s eye could imagine something as fantastical as “an electric guitar shaped like a Koopa Troopa” without some sort of visual aid. Check out the Reddit entry to see the fruits of this unnamed magician ’s labor.

by JuanGuanTaran on Dec.02, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
That eerie, oppressive sound you hear is that of a million Silent Hill soundtracks being played in memoriam of Akira Yamaoka . Original Sound Version has confirmed Yamaoka’s departure from Konami, a rumor that began circulating yesterday. Yamaoka is known primarily for his work on the characteristic soundscapes of Konami’s Silent Hill series, including the upcoming Silent Hill: Shattered Memories .

Golgoth confirms Joe and Mac remake in the works
by JuanGuanTaran on Nov.06, 2009, under Gadgets, Mac, Media, Video Games
Golgoth recently dropped a press release to cut off conjecture about their next project at the pass, simply stating, “after our Toki remake release, we’ll work on Joe and Mac license.” That simple confirmation, as well as the concept art seen above, was really the only meat on the release’s bones — platforms for the remake, or a tentative launch window still remain unannounced. We’d love to toot our own horn for correctly guessing the franchise Golgoth would work on next, but the studio’s boss did say it would be a Data East-developed co-op platformer. One needn’t be a world-renowned cryptographer to suss that one out

EA opens pre-orders for Battlefield 1943 PC
by JuanGuanTaran on Oct.02, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
The official Battlefield 1943 Twitter account has tw@ted that the EA Store is ready to take pre-orders for the PC version of the game. The three-map (four, if you count the aerial-centric Coral Sea ) battle fiesta is expected sometime in 2010, along with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (and possibly Battlefield 3 ). It’ll certainly be interesting to see if the PC FPS demographic embraces the more casual-oriented Battlefield 1943 in the droves that brought the console version to its knees — at this point, we’d be happy if the development of the PC version simply brought new maps for all . by JuanGuanTaran on Sep.29, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Rumors, Video Games
Looks like the rumors and speculation were spot-on — GameStop just revealed the first details on Super Street Fighter IV , a new version of the brawler released earlier this year in the U.S., which will rebalance the game’s existing characters and add eight new fighters to the roster. For now, the only confirmed fighters we know are series regulars T. Hawk and Dee Jay, and a brand new female pugilist named Juri
