Hellacious marketing: Dante’s Inferno is in the code
by BestelenViagra on Feb.04, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
It seems the marketing team behind Dante’s Inferno hasn’t burnt out yet, with several ASCII art campaigns popping up in the source code for several popular websites. All direct to the same Dante’s Inferno site . The first image (above) appeared in digg ’s code, as noted by brentcsutoras , and other sites like IGN, GameSpot and Kotaku also had their source code altered to display Dante-relatedl images. It’s one of the cuter, somewhat classier approaches to this title’s marketing, and that makes it oddly noteworthy. If you’re wondering why there’s nothing in our source code (we’re checking now just to make sure) ..

Mass Effect 2 dev profiles Sentinel class, the ‘Jack of All Trades’
by okto-pus on Dec.14, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
After Mass Effect 2 lead gameplay designer Christina Norman walked us through the Engineer class and it’s sanguinary droid last week, we were wondering how BioWare could possibly appeal to our inner tactician any more. It appears that the developer sought to do just that with this week’s introduction to the Sentinel. Skilled in both biotic skills (thats space magic , folks) and tech abilities, Norman says the Sentinel is “the only class that can blast through any enemy’s defenses … with or without your squad backing you up.” With only a handful of weeks left before the game’s January 26 release date , it won’t be long before we get to find out exactly how adept the Sentinel is for ourselves.

Team Fortress 2 getting crafty in next update
by FreeAntivirusOn on Dec.14, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
The first piece of information to come out of Team Fortress 2 ’s “War” update for the Soldier and Demoman classes is a savory one — according to the game’s official blog, players of the PC version of the game will now be able to craft their own weapons , hats and other inventory items. Formerly useless pieces of loot in a player’s collection can now be combined using a specific blueprint, resulting in a brand new, much more desirable piece of equipment.

Spec Ops: The Line not dusting up until Nov. 2010 at earliest
by aaarooon on Dec.14, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Though the Bjork-filled trailer for Spec Ops: The Line may have left you eager to start shooting up a sandy Dubai, we have to recommend that you save at least some anticipation for late next year. According to publisher Take-Two, the Yager-developed shooter isn’t due until the 2011 fiscal year, which kicks off on Nov.
