Big Download awards 2009’s vaporware
by BestVideooa on Dec.23, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Software, Video Games
In response to Wired’s own 2009 vaporware awards, our pals at BigDownload have complied their own list of software and hardware that woulda, coulda and shoulda seen the light of day this year. Topping the list is the streaming service OnLive , which was slated to release in “winter 2009,” following a healthy dose of beta testing. While reception for the service has been mostly positive, OnLive’s claims have yet to be tested on a global stage (during E3 2009, OnLive was previewed for select media via a cable modem connection to the service’s California-based headquarters)

Somewhat playable N64 emulator released for jailbroken iPhones
by MyBestCreditOffers on Dec.23, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games, iPhone
Mobile emulation expert ZodTTD’s newest project, a Nintendo 64 emulator for jailbroken iPhones , has been released — and just in time for the holidays, too, allowing you to recreate that one video with those screaming, flailing children. With a miniscule $2.50 price tag and bluetooth support, which allows you to control the emulator with a Wii remote, it would be a pretty great deal. If, you know, it didn’t run at a handful of frames per second. Check out the video after the jump to see the emulator in action, and to decide whether the double-thick molasses-slow gameplay is still worth the price of admission. Joystiq tipsters — and Xbox.com regulars — have noticed a strange Beta 2009 icon appearing on some Xbox 360 ‘Played Games’ profiles. While speculation (or hopes and dreams ) was that the icon was related to something important , sources tell Joystiq that Microsoft is internally testing Avatar awards. Sorry, no megatons here

Blockbuster selling high-end PS3 bundles
by assedySteef on Jun.27, 2009, under Blu-Ray, Gadgets, Media, Video Games
We were sent a tip regarding a new PS3 bundle that Blockbuster was supposedly selling, so we headed on down to our local chain to snoop around. What we found was the above image showing off a PS3 bundle consisting of a 40gb console , Transformers: The Game , Spider-Man 3 Blu-ray, PS3 remote, HDMI cable, and a 12-week rental card (which allows you to rent one movie each week), all for $359.99. What makes this such an odd story, however, is that this bundle isn’t offered at every Blockbuster store. We called another nearby chain and quizzed an employee on his store’s bundle.
