ESRB rates Castlevania: Rondo of Blood for Wii

by zakopanelimba on Jan.25, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

[ Castlevania Dungeon ] According to a recent “T for Teen” classification by the ESRB , Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (better known as Dracula X: Rondo of Blood ) appears to be heading to the Wii. An OFLC rating of the game back in December already hinted at the possibility of the game arriving on the Wii’s Virtual Console (the Japanese version was released in April 2008), but the ESRB rating’s description seems to clinch it, citing the “early-90s rendering” of “reddish blood-like bursts.” Previously, unless you were a resident of Japan who owned a PC Engine CD in the early ’90s (or, more likely, a PSP owner anywhere in the world within the past two years ago), there wasn’t an easy way for you to get your hands on “Akumajō Dracula X Chi no Rondo” ( Rondo of Blood’s Japanese title).

Just Cause 2 pre-order bonuses revealed in latest trailer

by messalinaxe on Jan.25, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Listen, we’re pretty sure we’re only going to need two things to complete our first playthrough of Just Cause 2 : A hookshot and an arm on which to attach it. Still, we admit that the bonus equipment that the game’s pre-orderers will have access to looks pretty intriguing: A skull-emblazoned parachute? An outrageously powerful handgun? A hovering deathtank?

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood trailer shows off multiplayer modes

by EshkaOlssen on Jun.25, 2009, under Gadgets, How To, Media, Video Games

Even back in the old west, cowboys knew how to throw together a solid multiplayer match. Evident in this trailer for Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood , the cattle rustlers and other denizens of the wild west partook in the staples of a multiplayer experience, including traditional survival and team-based combat modes. Back then, they didn’t call it “multiplayer” though. To them, it was all a part of Manifest Destiny . After you’ve checked out the trailer above, be sure to hit up the gallery below for some screens

Expect an id iPhone game ‘every two to three months for the next year’

by misterchayniksa on Jun.25, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games, iPhone

In an interview with Joystiq, id’s John Carmack stated that he is “pretty passionate about the benefits of the iPhone” and plans to continue supporting the platform. “I’ve got a slate of iPhone titles, I expect to have an iPhone release every two or three months for the next year,” said Carmack, noting that id will likely continue to plow through its classic titles (hope you like Doom !) before moving on to titles like Doom RPG and Wolfenstein RPG and eventually something based on id’s upcoming title Rage . Carmack stated that iPhone projects don’t require much of id’s focus, saying, “these are things that get a few people put on them for a little while, are fun for everybody involved.” “So far it looks like they’re making pretty good money,” said Carmack, “But they’re not the blockbuster titles that they go do $100 million dollars.” Read the entire interview with John Carmack and Zenimax CEO Robert Altman right here . Glu also sticking Guitar Hero 5, Blur, Tony Hawk: Ride on cell phones

by kin0shn1k on Jun.25, 2009, under BlackBerry, Cell Phones, Gadgets, Media, Video Games, Windows, iPhone

Activision has stuck with Glu for bringing more than just Modern Warfare 2 to mobile phones. Gamasutra reports that the studio will also create keypad-friendly versions of Guitar Hero 5 , Blur and Tony Hawk: Ride for release this year, although we have to question how closely the gameplay of the latter with adhere to that of the peripheral-based console version. Again, these ports are all for mobile phones , not gaming handhelds masquerading as such, iPhone ! (Which, when you think of it , would seem ideally suited for Ride .) They’re being made for handsets running Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Java-based operating systems
