LGJ: Dante’s Infringement (or lack thereof)
by Helditoobjelo on Feb.16, 2010, under Features, Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Filed under: Features Mark Methenitis contributes Law of the Game on Joystiq (“LGJ”), a column on legal issues as they relate to video games : While I’m still waiting for my copy of Dante’s Inferno , I have been checking out the review sites, Achievement guides and message boards in preparation for the arrival of the game. One question that keeps being asked over and over again, between many different boards, is “How is EA not being sued over this game?” While the overwhelming majority of these posts reference God of War , I have even seen mention of a “license” to Inferno (as a part of the Divine Comedy ).

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup will miss you, Conan
by Lexapro aburbalemslak on Jan.23, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Though we know the gargantuan, scarlet-coiffured late night host … err, former late night host will soon find new (and hopefully more stable) employment, we’re going to miss him profoundly. Not only did he provide us with regular belly-laughs, he also began frequently poking fun at video games during sketches on The Tonight Show. In that sense, we’ve not only lost a great entertainer — we’ve lost a brother in arms .

Joystiq highlights a game of the year 2009
by eldetlems on Dec.31, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Here it is, folks: The moment you’ve all been waiting for. Team Joystiq has been scouring the list of games that came out in 2009, attempting to pick the best of the best, then present them to our readership in an enumerated fashion. Unfortunately, we got bored with that, and instead started playing 2009: The Game , which is, in fact, a game of the year 2009. We apologize for the misleading headline. It’s more or less an “avoid-these-things-lest-you-die” game flash game which takes quick, topical jabs at the year’s low points.

Conan O’ Brien thinks Avatar: The Game was rushed
by OrarceZex on Dec.06, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
There’s a good reason why we never went into late-night comedy: We really didn’t want to compete against lanky comic genius Conan O’ Brien. We thought writing about (and, more often than not, making fun of) video games would be a career path where we’d never have to compete with the gargantuan Irish host — unfortunately, in a recent episode of Late Night, Conan managed to encroach on our territory , making a joke at the expense of the recently released (and tepidly received ) Avatar: The Game . Check out the video of Conan’s gag after the jump while we consider another career choice — one that will definitely be devoid of Conan competition. (We’re thinking about horse whispering

Video: Mega 64’s $300 PSP Go joke
by stevenslim on Oct.14, 2009, under Features, Gadgets, Media, Video Games
You know, one day we hope to be as rich as the cats at Mega 64 . The troupe’s latest video — an alarming look at one of the PSP Go ’s lesser-known features (courtesy of IGN ) — shows us just how stacked with loot these guys really are. We’re not going to give the ending away, but let’s just say the whole thing is a fine way to burn a neat stack of Benjamins

Blaze unveils Wii-like motion controller for PS3
by cinkincognock on Oct.14, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
The subset of people who really want motion control on their PS3s yet refuse to wait for Sony to actually add it is pretty small, but never let it be said that peripheral maker Blaze is willing to leave money on the table. The company has just announced the Motion Freedom 3D controller for the system, and it looks unmistakably like a Wiimote for the PS3. The release promises the “all new device opens up unthinkable gaming possibilities,” which we’re taking to mean that no one actually thought to make any games for it. Okay, fine, Blaze says it at least works with Sega Tennis and Tiger Woods , but we can’t imagine that such a retrofitted solution would be worth investing in before Sony’s official offering arrives

by MikeWink on Sep.25, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Being a blog on the internet, we’re big believers in the power of commenters. Whether it’s the beloved “First!” or the always refreshing “Slow news day, huh?,” each and every person who enters a string of text into a comments field and hits submit has undoubtedly changed the course of history … forever . Mega64 , the comedic troupe with a taste for video games, has finally realized this and, in combination with the item-spawning gameplay of Scribblenauts , has created something that will change the internet forever .
