Steam: Pre-order Metro 2033, get Red Faction Guerrilla free
by VeryFunnnyGirl on Feb.05, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
With a Steam pre-purchase of THQ’s upcoming Metro 2033 (which releases March 16) for $50, deal-seekers will also nab Red Faction Guerrilla for free. The Red Planet Revolution sim is regularly priced at $20 — but, you know, the right Steam sale comes along and that price drops like a Martian communications tower. Our recent hands-on with Metro 2033 gave us a “good” vibe, but we definitely need more time with the game to see if the feeling lasts. Red Faction Guerrilla , however, made it onto five Joystiq editors’ “Best of the Rest” of 2009 lists, and it’s totally worth picking up — even if you have to pay for it

Dream-Build-Play puzzler Rotor’scope now on Xbox Live Indie Games
by penejepindTEn on Feb.05, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
We got to check out Rotor’scope: The Secret of the Endless Energy at PAX last year, and it nearly broke our minds . Of course, our minds were quite fragile at that point, weakened by long nights of tireless writing and frequent coffee binges — still, the fact remains that Rotor’scope was one of the most original concepts for a puzzle game we’d played in a good long time. Fortunately, we now have the chance to give the game another go — it was recently added to the Xbox Live Indie Games platform for 400 ($5). Check out the Rotor’scope trailer after the jump to see the game’s cog-flipping puzzle mechanics in action and to get a sense of the title’s overarching story. With create-a-level modes, hand-drawn graphics and even some Facebook integration, it looks like you’ll be getting a lot of bang for your buck.

The Beatles: Rock Band limited edition for Xbox just $200 [update]
by iodincEmulund on Jan.04, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
If you’ve got to get the Beatles: Rock Band limited edition into your life, but don’t have $250 around to pay for it, you’ll be happy with what Amazon has done. In fact, since what Amazon has done is “knock $90 off the price of the Xbox 360 version,” it would be hard to imagine anyone being unhappy with it who doesn’t work for EA or Amazon. Right now, you can get the Xbox 360 version of The Beatles: Rock Band , with the Beatles replica instruments, for $159.99 . The PS3 version is not as dramatically discounted, but is still better than MSRP at $199.99 . If you want wireless instruments and the game, but don’t care about the Beatles-esque look of the guitar and drums, you can get the Special Value Edition for $139.99 on either Xbox or PS3 — or, for wireless drums, a copy of the Rock Band 2 special edition bundled with a copy of Beatles from EA’s Rock Band Deals Online for $149.

Wireless PS3 visual transmitter allows for Modern Warfare 2 on the go
by bestgamblingforum on Dec.30, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Though it’s certainly not the sleekest handheld device we’ve ever seen — in fact, it might be in the running for the unsleekest device ever created — the latest project from a modder, nicknamed Techknott , boasts some pretty impressive capabilities. Basically, the handheld sends control signals to a PS3, which transmits video signals back to the device, allowing for nomadic sessions of Modern Warfare 2 (or any other PS3 game), as seen in the video after the jump.
