Ghostwire lead developer Tom Soderlund told us at GDC that his upcoming DSi-exclusive Nintendo DS game will be coming to Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android. The DSi version, published by Majesco, is set to come out near Halloween this year, and it’s possible the other flavors will be ready by then as well. One advantage these systems have over the DS is the bonus of GPS, which could lead to some interesting location-specific ghosts. We hope Elvis’ grave is first on the list

Funcom’s The Secret World gets a weird website

Since it was first revealed back in 2007, there really hasn’t been a lot of information released about Funcom’s upcoming MMO The Secret World . We’ve learned a bit about its factions, enjoyed a handful of screenshots and watched a couple of nifty trailers (embedded after the break, for your convenience). Now, Funcom has opened a website for one of the game’s locations, a sleepy New England town (yes, another one) by the name of Kingsmouth. The website is designed as though it were made by an actual chamber of commerce, including plenty of low resolution photos and awkwardly placed Google ads

From Software has been on a roll lately, with the hit Demon’s Souls and the well-received 3D Dot Game Heroes . But what of the franchise that people most closely associate with From Software (among people who associate From Software with things) — Armored Core? At an Armored Core Silent Line Portable tournament in Tokyo, From Software dated the PSP version of Armored Core: Last Raven for March 4, and (more excitingly) announced a brand-new entry in the mech series, Armored Core 5 . No details of the sequel were revealed beyond a release date, though the new AC5 site suggests that more information will be forthcoming January 14 (or when the Famitsu leaks hit).

While we were flipping through the Facebook this morning, looking for pictures of Bobby Jones with that tramp Kelly Sue Eakins, we couldn’t help but notice that our best buds on Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell account had put up a sweet new pic . The snap captures our pals helping out some Russian friends with their makeovers (aren’t they the nicest guys?), though we can’t make any sense of the inexplicable caption below the image that reads, “Co-op mode split screen confirmed!” What does that have to do with makeovers, guys? Come on! Black Wii, holiday demand lead to big sales boost in Europe

The black Wii system , originally released concurrently with Monster Hunter Tri in Japan , is now in stores across Europe. And Nintendo is doing its best to keep it there, despite increased demand. According to MCV , demand for the console has risen 60% in the last week, and distributor Nindie.com is working “round the clock” to keep shipments going briskly. “Of course it would be wrong to attribute all of this to Black Wii as we’re all starting to see a natural peak season uplift on all hardware,” senior Nintendo product manager Rob Lowe said. But Wii sales have apparently doubled following the release of the smart-looking black system.

Gameloft sales up a dramatic 18% this year

Gameloft’s mobile focus is keeping the company flush with cash in these tough times. The prolific publisher announced today that quarterly sales are up 15 percent over the third quarter last year and up 18 percent in year-to-date figures compared to the same period last year.
