Lara Croft may have road named in her honor

by lumureriare on Dec.01, 2009, under Gadgets, How To, Media, Video Games

They say you can find your stripper name by combining the name of your first pet with the street you grew up on. Keeping that in mind, you may someday find yourself trying to figure out how to politely decline the awkward, compulsory advances of Miss Fluffy Lara Croft. As reported in the Derby Telegraph , the hero of the Tomb Raider series in one of eight potential names for two stretches of a road in the UK city Derby, which was the home of Core Design, the original studio behind Lara. Surprisingly, Lara Croft is not our favorite option, as the idea of being badgered into buying Scruffy John Flamsteed a $13 drink is just too wonderful to imagine.

Dragon Age: Origins DLC to ‘Return to Ostagar’ this holiday

by gigRowlclinge on Nov.19, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Polish up your armor and prune your dialog trees: EA has announced a new Dragon Age: Origins DLC adventure, ” Return to Ostagar ,” is coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this holiday season for $5. The add-on will allow your hero to “revisit Ostagar, the site of the Grey Wardens’ darkest hour, to reclaim the honor and learn the secrets of Ferelden’s fallen king.” Listen, we’re as big of fans of Dragon Age: Origins as you’re likely to meet, but we have to question the scheduling of this DLC release. It’s not that we don’t want it, but who out there has played so much DA :O that they’re bored of what’s on the disc?

Nier Replicant is sort of different from Nier Gestalt

by PafSmibimiSax on Sep.18, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Square has not one, but two Nier games in the works: one for Xbox, and one for PS3. Nier Replicant is being developed exclusively for PS3, and looks somewhat different from its Gestalt counterpart. Both games feature a white-haired protagonist named Nier, but Replicant ’s lead is a younger, slimmer and a bit more effeminate than the 360’s lead character . Both stories have our hero(es) on a journey to save a family member: in Replicant , it’s a sister, while in Gestalt , it’s a daughter. We’re not entirely sure why Square Enix deemed it necessary to create two same-but-different versions of Nier for the two consoles.

Just Cause 2 dev diary is free, free fallin’

by Advodempiopog on Sep.13, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Spider-Man’s got nothing on Just Cause 2 ’s returning protagonist, Rico Rodriguez. Sure, Spidey’s got a whole host of arachnid super-enhancements — but Rico’s various modes of aerial travel make web-swinging seem so … pedestrian

by daypepiet on Aug.28, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

New Kingdom Under Fire II media has been released, showing off some of the first footage of actual gameplay. The game looks to play similarly to its predecessors, offering hack-and-slash gameplay mixed with some strategic elements. The first trailer, embedded above, deals mostly with the simple fighting mechanics. You know the drill: Hammer on the light attack button and occasionally tap the heavy attack button
