There’s no question: retail has a serious lack of Wiis, once again. Yes, this is 2010, but you wouldn’t be wrong in thinking it feels more like 2008 . Following up on several tips over the past month about online and retail Wii “shortages,” the best we can discover is that supply is still coming in to retailers, but that demand is exceeding it — it’s that same old Wii song we’ve heard for years .

Score $5 million in funding for Gaikai

David Perry’s “It’s not OnLive ” service, Gaikai , recently gained $5 million in venture capital, a Security and Exchanges Commission filing shows. For the uninitiated, basically Perry wants to beam games directly into your house. We imagine the tech behind it is kinda like that crazy set-up the Riddler had running all over Gotham, hence the need for such a large sum of money.

For those of you out there on your third or fourth sleepless night, unable to catch some Zs for worry that Sony is losing money on its physical-media PSP models to the PSP Go , it’s time to rest easy. Sony Europe head Andrew House recently told GamesIndustry.biz that digitally distributed titles are “additive to the business.” Better yet, newer PSPs aren’t eating older ones. “I don’t think there’s been a huge amount of cannibalization.” Okay, okay, he’s talking about PSP Go sales proverbially “eating up” PSP-3000 sales.
