Access Gmail with Outlook 2003 Using POP Tutorial

I decided to make a tutorial for those of us that need to set-up Google’s IMAP mail service in Outlook 2003. I hope this helps some of you guys out.
- Make sure POP access is turned on for your Gmail account.
- Select Tools/E-mail accounts from the menu in Outlook.
- Make sure add a new e-mail account is selected.
- Click Next.
- Choose POP3 as the Server Type.
- Click Next.
- Enter your Gmail account details in the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) dialog. (continue reading…)

Google Releasing Free IMAP for Gmail

I’ve been using a BlackBerry for several years now, and while I love the device itself, without BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) it seems that the device has a bit too many limitations in regards to syncing data across multiple applications.
Yesterday however, the folks over at Google (Gmail in particular) announced that they are releasing IMAP for cell phones and other devices, and IMAP in general. Basically, what this means is that now you’ll be able to make changes to your emails in your BlackBerry or cell phone, on the web, and on your email client (such as Outlook). But the best part of the whole deal (aside from it being free) is that you’ll be able to see those changes reflected across all of the applications. (continue reading…)
