Oh, yeah, there’s an iPhone/iPod Touch app too that should arrive with the others on June 15.

‘Those Minerals’ laments Mass Effect 2 probing in a hip-hop fashion
by benequieria on Feb.16, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
We frequently tried to find ways to keep ourselves occupied during the days we spent probing planets for precious, precious minerals in Mass Effect 2 , but largely came up empty-handed. You can only scan Uranus so many times before it loses its comedic value, you know? If only we’d followed the cue of YouTube rap sensation Kabuto the Python, who spent his mining moments crafting rhymes and beats , then combining the two into a single package which we feel comfortable calling a rap song . Check the NSFW track after the jump. iPhone Noby Noby Boy demonstrated by puppets
by misterchayniksa on Feb.15, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games, iPhone, iPod
Most publishers make dramatic trailers for their games, with carefully chosen game footage augmented by thrilling cinematics. Namco Bandai did not do that for the iPhone Noby Noby Boy game. Instead, creator Keita Takahashi put on a puppet show in a conference room. Using adorable handmade puppets, Takahashi provided the clearest look yet at the mobile version, including the stretchable Boy, several minigames and a camera app in which …

Two companies have announced new iPhone releases of old games. First, Pocket Gamer reports that Cobra Command developer Revolutionary Concepts will release another Data East classic, Karate Champ , on iPhone and iPod touch. The port will feature Bluetooth and local wi-fi two-player, and will simulate the original dual-joystick interface of the arcade game. In addition, Manomio, developer of the on-again, off-again Commodore 64 emulator for iPhone, has gotten an Amiga emulator working and plans to release Amiga games as standalone apps.

Blizzard announces ‘premium’ Auction House functionality for WoW Armory app
by myfloverty on Feb.02, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games, iPhone, iPod
There’s a surprisingly large sect of characters in World of Warcraft who live their entire lives without ever stepping foot outside of their race’s capitol city. To some, the MMO’s in-game auction house presents a more compelling gameplay option than the usual dungeon raiding and level grinding — it allows players to become wildly wealthy with shrewd business practices. According to an announcement made by Blizzard earlier today , these players will be able to manage their auctions on-the-go using the Armory app on iPhone and iPod Touch. Little is known about how much control the app will give players over their in-game assets, however, references to the service being “premium-based” have led to conjecture that the functionality will cost a few coins. Real-life coins, that is.

Hands-on: Apple iPad
by PabloJovceyJrse on Jan.27, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games, iPhone, iPod
Hey, so you know all about the iPhone, right? In the brief time we spent with Apple’s new iPad , from a gaming perspective, there’s not much more to add. It’s a big iPod Touch — both are missing the iPhone’s camera — but iPad’s got a flexible data plan option; no contract required. While Apple showed off some iPad-optimized games during today’s keynote, neither Gameloft’s new version of N.O.V.A

The games we want on iPad
by Foreaffelsoda on Jan.27, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games, iPhone

Supreme Commander 2’s European deployment date in line with America
by Endymarbel on Jan.26, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Supreme Commander 2 is set to storm European retail on March 5 and 19, 2010, on PC and Xbox 360, respectively. The release dates fall within the same week as the North American launch . As we noted before, Gas Powered Games’ real-time strategy sequel will drop right in the middle of a retail war for consumer currency , the likes of which we’ve never seen. The game’s redeeming quality is that as an RTS — available for consoles, as well — it may just survive the 2.8 second life expectancy of a game without massive, effective promotion . Supreme Commander 2’s European deployment date in line with America originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 26 Jan 2010 20:20:00 EST

by TakoTakoBurito on Jan.26, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
It isn’t like us to dedicate an entire post to a single screenshot, but when it comes to Dead Rising 2 we’ve already set a precedent . Earlier today, Capcom’s Unity blog posted a handful of new images from the zombie-killing simulator, but the screen that really captured our attention was the one shown (gloriously) above.
