by DebraDavidson on Feb.19, 2010, under Blu-Ray, Features, Gadgets, Media, Video Games
We can’t be gaming all the time, despite our best efforts, and from time to time we’ll actually take advantage of the movie-playing abilities on our gaming systems. JBO features our top picks for XBL, PSN, Netflix’s Watch Instantly and Blu-ray each week. Recommendation of the Week: Stingray Sam ($12 HD digital download, $18 DVD, $49 deluxe) Cory McAbee is one cool character. He’s produced art, music, short films and feature films, and he’s at his best when he’s combining art and movie together. Last year at Sundance, he premiered his newest feature film, Stingray Sam

by HefZoowReek on Feb.19, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

We’d thought that a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Classic Literature major had planted the idea-seed in an EA executive’s mind — apparently, said gardening was actually performed by Ba’al Zeb

Fan-made Final Fight movie trailer is pretty good, actually
by Lulfumosteoms on Feb.03, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
There are plenty of things to love about Final Fight . There’s the ridiculously diesel, shark pile-driving wrestler-turned-mayor the story is centered around, Mike Haggar, and the fact that citizens in Metro City like to store whole turkey dinners inside of dirty oil drums.

We can’t be gaming all the time, despite our best efforts, and from time to time we’ll actually take advantage of the movie-playing abilities on our gaming systems. JBO features our top picks for XBL, PSN, Netflix’s Watch Instantly and Blu-ray each week. Recommendation of the Week: The Bourne Trilogy (Blu-ray/SD flipper discs, $24.98 per movie, much lower at retailers) Flipper discs are back! Remember back when HD-DVD existed, and they’d put a standard def edition of the movie on the flipside of the HD? Universal is bringing it back: Frosted-Blu on one side, regular shredded wheat on the other

Activision doing Percy Jackson & The Olympians game
by MichelleWatson on Jan.11, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Activision has announced that it will publish the video game based on the upcoming film Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief , which is itself based on the children’s book of the same name. Being unfamiliar with the book, we assumed the story centered around a young, inexperienced pimp and his band of gymnastic prostitutes. Activision has announced that the game will be a tactical RPG for the DS and, frankly, the prospect of a portable pimping RPG is positively delightful . Upon further research, however, it turns out that the movie and game center around a young man with godly powers. EA drops fiscal year outlook
by Creenewhefe on Jan.11, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Following its announcement of NBA Jam , EA sent out another press release that’s likely to elicit a much more somber “boom-shaka-laka.” The mega-pubisher adjusted its estimate for earnings for both its fiscal Q3 2010 (which ended on December 31) and the full fiscal 2010 (which ends March 31). It’s … not good news. EA reduced its net revenue for Q3 from $1.247 billion to $1.227 billion, and its fiscal 2010 expectations to between $3.6 billion and $3.675 billion, down from a range of $3.6 billion to $3.9 billion
