Ensemble’s Bruce Shelley working on The Settlers 7

As spotted by Joystiq’s sister site Big Download in a recent gameplay trailer, ex-Ensemble Studios co-founder Bruce Shelley is working on Ubisoft’s next installment in the Settlers series, The Settlers 7 . Oh, what’s that?

Capcom working on ‘PC-lead’ projects

Speaking to VG247 in a podcast, Capcom’s Christian Svensson offered the faintest of hints about new products in the works, indicating only that some of them were being made with PC as the lead platform. “That doesn’t mean that that content isn’t also going to show up on console,” Svensson clarified, “because it will.” This is different from other PC-designed products using the MT Framework engine in that these games are being designed specifically with PC audiences in mind. Svensson said that “the pedigree of the team and the primary focus of the design is around the PC, and the largest forecast is on PC for at least one of these projects.” New IP from Capcom seems like something to look forward to, right? If only we knew anything at all about it.

The first video of N+ dev’s ‘Robotology’

In fairness, Metanet Software’s first video for Robotology (found after the break) is more physics demo than it is gameplay demo — or even proof of concept, for that matter. Though considering the pedigree behind the game (Metanet made N+ , this week’s Xbox Live deal !), we’re willing to overlook the less than thrilling minute-plus video in celebration of the sheer tenacity with which Metanet attacks its game development. In fact, according to the Metanet website , the action in the video represents, “almost 800 lines of code, painstakingly hand-transcribed from graph paper and Flash mockups” — oh my! Here’s hoping it all pays off when the game ships ..
