Swag Sunday: Bayonetta (360)
by Fragialirwela on Feb.07, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Look, alright, we’ll level with you — we’ve got a short supply of schweet schwag hanging around Joystiq Prizeland as of late. That should at least partially help to explain last week’s absence of a contest. We also kind of felt like you might’ve been overloaded with games during our holiday giveaways at the end of 2009. What’s that?

Review: MAG
by SymnLefsensus on Jan.28, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
MAG is one of the most ambitious, innovative games I’ve played over the course of the past year — and considering the past year has seen the introduction of a disc-jockey simulator and a game you play exclusively with your feet , I think that’s a braggable claim. If you’re coming over to MAG straight from an extended tour of service in Modern Warfare 2 , the transition is going to be a rough one. While the former rewards mad skillz and high K/D ratioz , Zipper Interactive’s 256-player battles ultimately aren’t affected by your personal performance. No one player can pull his team to victory — and, alternatively, no one player can be blamed for his team’s loss, which really takes the pressure off of mediocre soldiers like me

A date with Kratos: God of War III hits the US on March 16
by CetsHeeve on Jan.28, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
click to titan-size Sony has announced (via PlayStation.Blog ) that God of War III will launch domestically on March 16. That’s just 47 days away (which is exactly 47 days too many). In addition to firming up the date, SCEA released the final box art (it’s rated M!) and revealed that a new trailer for the game — hopefully showcasing the considerable upgrades it has received since the playable demo hit — will debut on February 11. A box shot of the Ultimate Edition has also been released — a package within which ultimate collectors will find a replica Pandora’s Box containing the game (shocking, we know) along with collectibles and DLC (it’s digital and physical!). Personally, we find a paltry cardboard box rather unbefitting of such a powerful artifact, so we’ll be holding out for a “Supreme Ultimate Edition,” which will obviously come in a replica Pandora’s Temple on the back of a replica Cronos.

Mass Effect 2 ’super elite’ 360 bundle bound for Australia only, EA says
by pillikole on Jan.18, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
EA has confirmed it will only be shipping its $600 AUD ($550 USD), 250GB HDD-equipped “super elite” Xbox 360 bundle (breath) to Australia, according to a report from VG247 . “This is a local bundle deal that the [EA Australia] team has sorted,” an EA representative explained. The bundle is said to contain two black wireless controllers (standard Microsoft issue) and a wired headset; a regular, non- fancy copy of Mass Effect 2 ; an Xbox 360 Elite (sans promotional artwork, unfortunately); and a 250GB HDD. Just like the Modern Warfare 2 “Super Elite” console, we imagine supplies will be limited — to Australia, in this case. Bayonetta’s dancing is really ’sexy’
by bestgamblingforum on Nov.24, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Did you think the footage of Bayonetta summoning intricate torture devices was disturbing? Wait until you see this context-free prototype dancing footage, featuring everyone’s favorite giant witch cutting a motion-captured rug (after the break). We don’t know if it’s the fact that the animations have yet to be finalized in this sequence, or if it’s the idea of Bayonetta taking a break from her brutal revenge quest to get down, or if it’s simply Bayonetta’s flagrantly inhuman body proportions, but yikes. What kind of touch-ups did Platinum do after this prototype stage? ” ..

Black Wii, holiday demand lead to big sales boost in Europe
by carlosgatesh on Nov.23, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
The black Wii system , originally released concurrently with Monster Hunter Tri in Japan , is now in stores across Europe. And Nintendo is doing its best to keep it there, despite increased demand. According to MCV , demand for the console has risen 60% in the last week, and distributor Nindie.com is working “round the clock” to keep shipments going briskly. “Of course it would be wrong to attribute all of this to Black Wii as we’re all starting to see a natural peak season uplift on all hardware,” senior Nintendo product manager Rob Lowe said. But Wii sales have apparently doubled following the release of the smart-looking black system.
