Though we’ve yet to hear official word from Sega on whether After Burner Climax is jetting to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network, Gameswire has obtained “by hook or by crook” a plethora of gorgeous screens — 26, to be exact — which it reports as coming from the XBLA version. Late last year, the flight action was rated by both the Australian and Korean boards , with classification applied for by Sony. by messalinaxe on Dec.23, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
We know, we know — you’ve spent the better part of today searching the internet for all those Namco classics no longer playable on the futurebox of choice in your living room. Thankfully, Namco Bandai just this morning announced intentions to “increase its digital distribution presence,” effectively eliminating your wasted time problem. Aside from the news that two Katamari -based titles are headed to Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable ( Beautiful Katamari in “Q1 2010″ and Me & My Katamari on December 22, respectively), today’s communication did little for news on what else we can expect from the Japanese publisher on the digital front. That being said, the company specifically pointed out future titles heading to not just Xbox 360, but also a bolstering of titles in the PSone and PSP catalogs on the PlayStation Network.

by BestoCardoOfferto on Nov.20, 2009, under Gadgets, How To, Media, Video Games
“They support the living sh*t out of it, and they support it really well,” Capybara’s Nathan Vella told Gamasutra when talking about Sony’s free PhyreEngine . “Any of the parts that are inside Phyre that we didn’t know how to fix or we had an issue with, they would fix it for us in a day. Overall, I think Sony’s doing a lot of right stuff for small independent developers.” Vella’s praise echoes similar sentiments from other PSN developers, like Shatter ’s Mario Wynands. In addition to free development tools, Vella noted other benefits by partnering with Sony.

In addition to the LucasArts adventure game renaissance and Telltale Games ‘ continued efforts in the genre, Relentless Software is bringing a new episodic adventure series to the PlayStation 3’s digital distribution service this December titled Blue Toad Murder Files . Aside from the handful of screenshots we got with the game’s December 17 release date announcement last month, we had yet to see it in video form until the Euro PS Blog put up a video earlier today.

Third parties not required to release PSP games on PlayStation Store
by utellallelm on Oct.16, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
What do Undead Knights , Naruto Shippuden: Legends: Akatsuki Rising , NBA 2K10 , Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes and Cars: Race O Rama have in common? All of these are PSP games released on UMD after the PSP Go’ s October 1 launch — and all are currently without a digital equivalent. Owners of the Go system are unable to play these games because they simply aren’t available on the PlayStation Store. Once again, Sony’s hands-off approach to the PlayStation Network means third parties are responsible for getting their content on both UMD and the PlayStation Store.

by Keeteintora on Sep.10, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Oh, my! Although the release of Turtles in Time and Silent Hill on PSN this week is certainly noteworthy, it’s the appearance of George Takei in PAIN that takes the cake. The original Star Trek star will be at your disposal to shoot from a canon and … seriously, why would you want to hurt George Takei

PaRappa creator contemplating return to PlayStation
by Brondanao on Jul.29, 2009, under Features, Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Masaya Matsuura isn’t a household name for PlayStation fans, but his games are: PaRappa the Rapper and (to a lesser extent) Vib-Ribbon became icons of the early era of PlayStation. However, since the release of Vib-Ripple in 2004, Matsuura hasn’t touched a single PlayStation platform, choosing to work on various Nintendo games, most recently Major Minor’s Majestic March for Wii. It seems Matsuura is ready to end his years-long hiatus on PlayStation systems.

by Addislege on Jul.29, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
When LittleBigPlanet PSP was first announced , we instinctively guessed there would be connectivity with the PS3 game. Looks like we were right. Players that own the original game will be able to unlock bonus content through a feature Sony is calling “Cross-Talk.” No details on what the bonuses will entail, but we wouldn’t be surprised if owners of both are treated to some exclusive costumes
