Readers pick best webcomic: The Harvest of Time
by lumureriare on Jan.16, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
It was an awfully close week, with six of the seven contenders all landing within just 30 votes of one another — but the people have spoken, and elected 2P Start’s ” The Harvest of Time ” as last week’s best gaming-related webcomic . We wager it’s because it reveals a facet of Link that not many people understand: He’s an ice-cold bastard , who won’t hesitate to destroy your lawn or wreck your pottery to find a few loose Rupees. What a tremendous jerk. Second and third place went to The Great Indoors’ ” Fanboyonetta ” and Penny Arcade’s ” A Review of the Preview, ” respectively. If you’ve got a favorite strip you’d like to see in tonight’s wrapup, drop a link in the comments, or send in a tip ! Last week, our MMO-obsessed sister site Massively took a break from their sneak preview of Cryptic’s spacefaring sim, Star Trek Online , to share some of their thoughts on the Klingon faction and player vs. player combat. Today, they’ve got a preview of the first few levels you’ll be grinding through. Is there anything more exciting in an MMORPG than those inaugural hours

Swedish rapper Pato Pooh asks you to follow him into the old school
by daypepiet on Oct.19, 2009, under Features, Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Adding himself to the short list of things we associate with Sweden other than Volvo, Ikea, and delicious meatballs , Stockholm’s Pato Pooh recently released a music video for his song “Follow Me.” It features a regular who’s who of 8- and 16-bit era gaming in the process, referencing everything from Mega Man ’s opening to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles . He even kills off that snickering jerk dog from Duck Hunt we all love to hate. Who’s laughing now, dog? Who’s laughing now ?

Max Payne 3’s new environments (and plus-sized hero) previewed
by Chalcomma on Oct.03, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
A lot of fans of the Max Payne series have been hesitant to get completely excited about Rockstar’s third installment in the series, largely due to the unfamiliar setting of San Paolo, Brazil, and the obvious aesthetic changes undergone by the game’s titular anti-hero. Perhaps their fears will be abated by a recent Game Informer preview of the title, which analyzes the big differences between the first two installments and the boldly redesigned threequel.
