Blizzard files trademark for ‘Cataclysm’

The identity of Blizzard’s unannounced MMO project may have just been revealed. Anonymous gaming news bloodhound superannuation recently uncovered a trio of trademarks from the MMO juggernaut, reserving the name “Cataclysm” for use in the fields of computer games , online games and paper-based products . We assume that last one doesn’t mean Blizzard’s dealing in Cataclysm-branded stationary. Our acronym-infused sister site WoW.com reminded us of a very important point — not all Blizzard trademarks turn into actual games (isn’t that right, StarCraft: Ghost ?). However, they also noticed that the domain name wowcataclysm.com recently expired and is now held by GoDaddy — who handles all of Blizzard’s domains.

Spielberg’s LMNO project may have been renamed ‘Eve’

You know, for a game that was supposed to be dead, Steven Spielberg’s codenamed project ” LMNO ” sure has been generating a lot of heat lately. First, the aforementioned near cancellation and subsequent resurrection , and now we get word from superannuation that the game may have been renamed “Eve.” The title (apparently derived from the game’s AI-controlled female lead) was spotted on the resume of Melissa Garza, who assisted with mo-cap on the game. Sure, it’s probably just a working title, but we really want LMNO to be released, so we’re doing what we can to keep the story alive. Within the first four days of its release, Wii Sports Resort moved 353,827 copies, making it the third-fastest selling Wii title ever — Mario Kart Wii sold 608,000 copies in a similar time period, while Super Smash Bros

Running Tigon Studios is a bit of a strange job to have. Ian Stevens , the man in charge, is responsible for not just organizing development talent to make games like this year’s Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena , but also working with Hollywood.

Rumor: Taiwanese firms awarded PS3 Slim manufacturing contracts

Another possibly ” frustrating ” leak for Sony, word comes from our buddies at Joystiq Japan and Engadget Chinese that two Taiwanese manufacturing companies have been awarded contracts to build Sony’s new streamlined PS3, affectionately known as the PS3 Slim . According to UDN.com , half of the orders have gone to Taiwanese group Foxconn, while the other half has gone to Pegatron.
