Nintendo report hints at new Wii titles, Other M release

by bestgamblingforum on Jan.28, 2010, under Gadgets, Mac, Media, Video Games

Nintendo is one of a few companies to release its earnings report earlier this week, and a supplemental report released today has some surprises and new information for Wii owners. Not only do they finally list a target date for Metroid: Other M (you can expect it as soon as summer of this year if all goes to plan), but there are two brand new names in the list as well: Xenoblade and The Last Story .

TwO Brothers’ Climb to the Top of the Castle on consoles

by Versroapssada on Jan.04, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Tim, 23, and Orion Araya, 20, are the two brothers behind TwO Bros. Games, recent winners of the 2BeeGames Indie Game Competition for their submission Climb to the Top of the Castle . Like Auditorium and Storm before it, the siblings’ game has earned a digital distribution publishing deal through Zoo Games. Joystiq recently exchanged emails with the Arayas about their game and what to expect from the upcoming console version: This might seem like a silly question, considering the game’s title, but, what exactly is the goal in Climb to the Top of the Castle

Modern Warfare 2 reigns over UK charts for seventh week

by AlanBowel on Dec.30, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Software, Video Games

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 may have only sold 2,000 more units than FIFA 10 during the week ending December 26 in the UK, but it was enough for Infinity Ward’s unstoppable shooter to hold the top spot for a seventh week. Meanwhile, with no high-profile releases following the solstice, the rest of the chart appears to be a dance of all the other titles moving up and down a couple notches. Assassin’s Creed 2 climbs back up two spots to third, with the next four spots occupied by Wii titles

by agexeremego on Dec.30, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

We’ve all seen Super Mario Bros. parodies before — some that even make Mario a pretty sick and deranged dude. Been there, done that

Naughty Dog’s Evan Wells talks writing, pacing of Uncharted 2

by tersansa psihhlosasa on Dec.29, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Truth be told, there’s so much info contained in G4’s massive interview with Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells that we couldn’t possibly encapsulate it all in one headline. Naturally, it all focuses on Uncharted 2 , which has been raking in awards left and right as 2009 comes to a close. Among other things, Wells discusses the script, which the team actually wrote as the game was being developed. While there was a rough outline at the beginning of production, Wells notes that having a fully fleshed out script can cause trouble if changes have to be made in the middle of development. Wells also discusses the pacing of the game, which he likens to pulp novels and movies like Indiana Jones .

Japanese hardware sales, Nov. 30 – Dec. 6: Gundam overdose edition

by mrdik-rmom on Dec.13, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Look at them charts! Just look at ‘em . Observe the massive upswings for the PSP and Wii, and the surplus of pine tree-esque emerald arrows. Observe the conglomeration of the three different DS SKUs — is this a beautiful coincidence?

Nintendo: NSMB Wii has sold 2 million in US

by shapework on Dec.11, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Yesterday’s NPD announcement that New Super Mario Bros. Wii had sold 1.4 million copies in the November NPD period was impressive. But Nintendo topped it today by noting that, including sales after the NPD cutoff date, the game has reached a total of two million copies. It’s not Modern Warfare 2 or anything, but it is a very strong start for a game that is likely to have a very long tail

ESA survey says video games still topping holiday wishlists

by olfaktoria on Nov.16, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Despite outrageous day one sales projections for Modern Warfare 2 and the impending release of New Super Mario Bros. Wii , The ESA was still left wondering whether or not folks are still interested in giving and receiving video games over this holiday season. So the game industry’s lobbying group conducted a survey, which found that “42 percent of American adults plan to give or hope to receive a computer or video game this holiday season.” Furthermore, another 52 percent think of games as a cost-effective form of entertainment for the whole family. Perhaps the most notable result of the survey was a 31 percent increase from 2007 (to 47 percent) for respondents intending on gifting a woman with a game. We’re betting that at least 50 percent of the women receiving a game as a gift would prefer either a different gift or a more thoughtful partner

Miyamoto: Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be ‘really difficult’

by emorpRouppy on Nov.16, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Much like he did for the just-launched New Super Mario Bros. Wii , Shigeru Miyamoto has announced that Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be “really difficult.” But will it be so difficult as to require Nintendo’s new in-game life preserver, the Super Guide? Miyamoto isn’t so sure yet. “In general,” Miyamoto told Official Nintendo Magazine , “wherever and whenever appropriate, I think we will want to incorporate that kind of thing, but I cannot commit to anything specific right now.” Here’s our absolutely ridiculous prediction: Miyamoto and crew are going to do with this sequel what they did with Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels . Since Galaxy 2 is basically another level pack for an existing game, the team is going to make it almost impossible to complete.
