by Attipspougs on Feb.08, 2010, under DTV, Gadgets, Media, Video Games

In a time-honored Peter Moore tradition, the EA Sports head recently opened up for an interview on a variety of subjects in the game industry. This time, the oft fake-tattooed gentleman exposited on the future of OnLive and his company’s investment in the upcoming PlayStation Motion Controller (supposedly named ” Arc “). “I don’t know about OnLive,” Moore told CVG , responding to the question of whether or not the cloud gaming service will become the “iTunes of gaming.” He does, however, see opportunity in burgeoning distribution and pricing methods

EA denies Forbes claim over Tiger Woods split

by ApplyForAcardToday on Dec.10, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

With the recent controversy golfer Tiger Woods has found himself embroiled in, Forbes National Editor Michael Ozanian believes that the biggest name in golf is done being a pitchman. Ozanian claims that companies like Electronic Arts , which publishes the Tiger Woods PGA Tour series, will drop Woods “regardless of what they are saying now.” Well, we were actually curious to hear what EA is saying now, so we contacted the publisher. A spokesperson for the company informed Joystiq, “There is no change in our marketing strategy for the franchise

When the holidays roll around, the gamers who buy everything they want throughout the year might find themselves stymied asked for a wish list. Today, we put the Nyko Charge Base IC through its paces, and it looks like a great way to pad your list to Santa. The Wiimote charger uses induction, which not only alleviates the need to plug everything in, but — as you’ll see in the above video — also looks really slick. Also, to help justify this video’s existence, we teach you how to make butter cookies.

Blaze unveils Wii-like motion controller for PS3

by cinkincognock on Oct.14, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

The subset of people who really want motion control on their PS3s yet refuse to wait for Sony to actually add it is pretty small, but never let it be said that peripheral maker Blaze is willing to leave money on the table. The company has just announced the Motion Freedom 3D controller for the system, and it looks unmistakably like a Wiimote for the PS3. The release promises the “all new device opens up unthinkable gaming possibilities,” which we’re taking to mean that no one actually thought to make any games for it. Okay, fine, Blaze says it at least works with Sega Tennis and Tiger Woods , but we can’t imagine that such a retrofitted solution would be worth investing in before Sony’s official offering arrives

Wii Sports Resort sales reach 1.25m in US

by Stephan Wein on Sep.25, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Wii Sports Resort , Nintendo’s sequel to its police-distracting killer app , has sold 1.25 million copies in the United States, according to the House of Mario . And the peripheral that makes all of Resorts one to (not so much) one controls possible, the MotionPlus accessory, has moved 2.9 million units in the region. EA’s Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 swung 257,000 MotionPlus units into homes, while 1.36 million sales were standalone. For those who haven’t picked up Wii Sports Resort yet, it may be worth holding off until October 12, when Nintendo releases a bundle of the game with two MotionPlus devices for $60 – a $10 savings, worth it for those planning to play the game co-op.

Need for Speed shifts to the top spot on UK charts

by Byasherix on Sep.21, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Software, Video Games

It looks like the UK’s need to rock was outpaced by it’s need for speed [Hnngghh - Ed.], as Need for Speed Shift debuted in the top sales position this week. Need for Speed ’s arrival shifted [STOP IT - Ed.] Guitar Hero 5 , DiRT 2 and Arkham Asylum to the second, third and fourth places, respectively. It seems the Fab Four couldn’t hold on to their own homeland, with The Beatles: Rock Band slipping from fourth to seventh. Meanwhile, Wii Sports Resort moved up one notch to fifth, while Bethesda’s Wet debuted at number six. Rounding out the list were Call of Duty 4 , Wii Fit and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10

by Totsdyday on Jul.27, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Software, Video Games

Now that Nintendo has finally started chartering some flights to lovely Wuhu Island, folks have been eager to snap up Wii Sports Resort for their very own ticket. In the UK, Chart Track data shows the follow-up to 2006’s console pack-in is quite the popular little piece of software, as the sequel earned the top spot on last week’s All Formats chart. Strong start, but will it have the staying power of Wii Fit

by Diallayenda on Jul.07, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Software, Video Games

So it turns out Fight Night Round 4 is a real hit over in the UK. A real hit . That’s a joke. What isn’t a joke is that the game is enjoying a second week at the number one spot, despite competition from Tiger Woods Pro Tour 10 , which debuted at number 2.

EA and Tiger Woods make viral video magic (again)

by Vasiliymorgansage on Jun.23, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

It’s tough to follow the Jesus Shot , EA’s viral video for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 and tongue-in-cheek reference to a glitch found in Tiger Woods 08 . But, we must say, EA has managed to strike rich, comedic gold again, as the video after the break for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 featuring Rocco Mediate is pretty damn hilarious. Like, grandpa-with-an-open-fly hilarious. Oh, and some of you may notice something at the end of the clip, to the tune of EA awarding someone with $50,000 for their own viral video
