Hands-free: Camera-controlled Racquet Sports
by ronaldslim on Dec.10, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Call to mind Wii Sports’ tennis, and you don’t have to stretch your imagination too much further to arrive at Ubisoft’s Racquet Sports . If you own a Wii, you already own this experience, to which Ubisoft has added some variety, including ping-pong, badminton, squash, and beach tennis, and a more fleshed-out art direction than Nintendo’s pack-in or even its sequel, Wii Sports Resort . There’s no Mii support, but Racquet Sports offers its own dollish avatars, customized with unlockable trinkets

Rumor: Splinter Cell Conviction demo coming in January
by prelterce on Dec.10, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
As you might imagine, it’s kind of hard to believe the words coming out of someone’s mouth when a gold wrestling championship belt is gleaming in our eyes, which is why we’re not sure what to believe coming from the mysterious “Adam” regarding a possible Splinter Cell Conviction demo coming this January. Seen with the Hip-Hop Gamer in a video after the break, Adam — a gentleman who Ubisoft wouldn’t confirm to us is an actual employee — seemingly announces the existence of an upcoming Conviction demo.

Seagate and Maxtor Upgrade Capacities
by Jason Rybka on Jan.26, 2008, under Gadgets, Networking, Storage
I just got word from Seagate that they have upgraded hard drive capacities on certain models of their storage solutions, including one product we recently reviewed; the Maxtor One Touch 4 Mini, read the review. In that review one of the down sides to the unit was the low capacity (we reviewed the 80 gig unit). Here is what Seagate had to say:
Due to an explosion of digital content, IDC says demand for storage capacity continues to grow at a rate of nearly 60% per year. In response to this growing need, Seagate and Maxtor continue to deliver solutions that help customers effectively store, manage and share their most precious files (music, photos, video, documents, etc.). The company most recently introduced the following high-capacity products:
- Seagate FreeAgent Pro with Mac compatibility – 1TB capacity
- Maxtor OneTouch 4 Plus – 1TB capacity
- Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini – 250GB capacity
We’ll have updated reviews on some of these products shortly.

by Jason Rybka on Jan.11, 2008, under Features, Gadgets, Reviews
If you’ve been looking for a good solution to make your laptop (or notebook, whichever term you prefer) a bit more user friendly while in a stationary location, then Logitech’s Alto Cordless may be a product you might consider looking into. I happened to notice the unit while I was in my local Costco retailer.
The unit I purchased differs a bit from what Logitech’s official description provides in the fact that it comes with a wireless optical mouse as well, it was also about 20 bucks cheaper than the listed $99 retail price. Here are my thoughts on the cordless notebook accessory. (continue reading…)

by Joseph Rybka on Nov.12, 2007, under Features, Reviews, Storage
The Maxtor One Touch 4 Mini is a sleek and very compact external hard drive. The outer casing is made of an aluminum top cover, plastic surrounding the sides and rubber on the bottom to assure that it does not slide. Behind the stylish case lies a 5400 RPM, 2.5″ PATA hard drive with 8MB of cache memory. (continue reading…)
