Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest makes ‘Move’ to PS3

by niveziddedy on Mar.11, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

[Wii version] Warner Bros. Interactive has revealed that, in addition to the previously announced PS2, PSP, DS and Wii releases, it’s putting Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest on PS3 — with PlayStation Move support. The kid-friendly LOTR game will now be released this fall ( delayed again!) on all five platforms, with the Wii version developed by Headstrong Games (yes, that Headstrong Games ) and the others by TT Fusion. Of course, the Wii and PS3 versions will be the only ones with motion control, and they will also be the only versions featuring two-player co-op (with the second player controlling Gandalf).

Rumored third Mortal Kombat movie hits legal snag

by ApplyForAcardToday on Feb.19, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Just when our hopes for a third Mortal Kombat film were at their highest, a new legal battle has to come and crush them into the dirt. According to The Wrap , the new film — a recently rumored reboot from Warner Bros — has run into legal troubles. It seems that Threshold Entertainment has taken Warner Bros to court, claiming that it had a licensing agreement with Midway before the company was acquired by Warner Bros. Threshold, which worked with Midway on the first two Mortal Kombat films, claims the two companies extended their agreement in 2006 to make a third film, and states further that this agreement was upheld by a bankruptcy court after Midway’s acquisition. Now, the company is suing Warner Bros

Holy trademark, NIS! ‘Badman’ games to be renamed [update]

by zaragates on Feb.09, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

What did I do to deserve this, my lord!? That is both the question on NIS America’s mind and the new title of its series, once known as Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! The publisher announced that it’s changing the name of the Acquire-developed action-strategy game in response to “a conflict of interest with an existing IP.” We’re guessing the trademark issue in question is with a certain comic book franchise owned by Warner Bros. — Plastic Man, obviously. This week has not been kind to NIS. Just yesterday, the Japanese parent company reported a 95 percent drop in profits, and now the American branch has to change the name of one of its franchises midstream.

by InwaiderrBena on Jan.27, 2010, under Gadgets, How To, Media, Video Games

Rocksteady: publishers fully backed Batman: Arkham Asylum delay

by Unlalflaltibe on Dec.28, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Boy, Rocksteady has WAY better bosses than we do. When we say we need two more months to finish a post, our higher-ups open a whole barrel of complaints: “There’s no way it could take you that long to write a post,” or, “It won’t be anywhere near relevant anymore.” We’ve heard them all. But when Rocksteady said it needed two more months for Batman: Arkham Asylum , pushing the release from June to August, it was apparently backed completely by the game’s publishers, Eidos and Warner Bros. Speaking with Kotaku , game director Sefton Hill said the secret is to have “confidence in the game” and “be able to show that [added] time is going to be well spent.” So, in closing, we’d like to tell AOL that we’re confident the extra five months we’re spending on that PS3 Slim rumor post you asked about will be well spent . Thank you.

Tekken movie poster teased on official Japanese site

by HelenMshines on Dec.23, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

Film blog Twitch has spotted the teaser poster for the upcoming Tekken movie on the official Warner Bros. Japan site for the film. We don’t want to be overly cynical, but we’ve had our hearts broken so many times before that it’s hard to get excited for any video game-based films — no matter how spot-on Wushu martial artist Jon Foo looks as Tekken ’s Jin Kazama. You know what else we’re not fans of?

Smash TV creator talks potential sequel

by SalvatoreStafford on Nov.09, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Podcast, Video Games

Speaking to RetroGaming , Mark Turmell, co-creator of Smash TV , revealed that a sequel to the game might be forthcoming. According to Turmell, design for a sequel began some time ago, with the developers opting for a 3D game that maintained the top-down viewpoint of the original. Programming for the game had actually begun, but further progress was halted thanks to the Midway meltdown earlier this year. Turmell noted that Warner Bros. obtained the rights to Smash TV in its acquisition of Midway , adding that the company has “already identified that there’s interest in some of that old Midway IP.” When asked whether we’d still see a Smash TV sequel, Turmel said, “I’m sure you’ll see a Smash TV that will rise again.” Turmell admitted he wouldn’t take part in such a project, saying, “It’s a shame that I won’t be involved with it this time around.” [Via 1UP ] Smash TV creator talks potential sequel originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 09 Nov 2009 23:00:00 EST

New LEGO Rock Band trailer will brick your screen

by Anacondinya on Oct.26, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games

At this point, many of you have likely already formed an opinion on the blocky cousin to your regular, run-of-the-mill Rock Band : LEGO Rock Band . This latest trailer should then either completely excite you or induce a lifeless “meh.” For us, it’s definitely the former, with the best part of this trailer obviously being the very brief look at Chuck Norris rocking the guitar, right around the 58-second mark. Oh, and a little “Final Countdown” certainly doesn’t hurt. New LEGO Rock Band trailer will brick your screen originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 26 Oct 2009 22:00:00 EST.
