This Wednesday: Fret Nice, Greed Corp, and Lazy Raiders strike a chord on XBLA
by arbitakap on Feb.22, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
PS3 owners have had access to Pieces Interactive’s Fret Nice since February 4 , leaving Xbox 360 owners nothing to do with their guitar controllers but play rhythm games. According to an announcement from Major Nelson, those Xbox 360 guitarists will be able to experience Fret Nice ’s new type of guitar heroism this Wednesday, Feb. 24, at a cost of 1,200 ($15). Fret Nice uses both the buttons and the tilt function of guitar controllers to move members of the Vibrant Chordblasters, as they fight against Hair B

Fret Nice soloing on PSN this week
by Roambcamy on Feb.02, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Tecmo announced via Twitter that Fret Nice , the musical platformer played with guitar controllers, will be available on PSN in North America this week. In its own tweet , developer Pieces Interactive said that a European release date would be “coming soon.” Now PS3 owners will be able to use those guitar controllers of theirs to do something other than play along to “Uncontrollable Urge” over and over again (what, you mean you don’t do that?) Specifically, in Fret Nice , players take control of the Vibrant Chordblasters as they travel through the world defeating Hair B

by Occarktaure on Jan.25, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
It’s not a good sign when Xbox know-it-all Major Nelson admits in his This Week on Arcade post that “information on the game is light, so here is what I was able to find.” However, we can’t blame him — we’d never heard of KrissX , this week’s new XBLA game, before today either. Apparently, the Blitz Games-developed , Konami-published puzzler tasks players with solving crosswords and unscrambling “over 3,500 jumbled words that will test your trivia knowledge and expand your own daily vocabulary.” We’re automatically apprehensive about games that try to sneak some education into our entertainment regimen — we’ll have to wait and see if KrissX is actually fun enough to deserve our 800 ($10). Sadly, we don’t think the game has anything in common with Kriss Kross’ other ludological outing . Someday, friends. Someday .

This Wednesday: XBLA gets Serious (Sam)
by deriAlteddy on Jan.11, 2010, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
Considering there’s really nothing serious about it — some of the enemies have bombs for heads — we’re not sure how Serious Sam wound up with its name. It could be comic irony, or perhaps merely for its delightful sibilance. Honestly, we may never know
