Job listing points to Xbox Live for Windows Mobile
by Chalcomma on Dec.30, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games, Windows
Just a few months ago, a Microsoft job listing hinted at the possibility of integrating Xbox Live with Windows Mobile. Now, according to a new job listing , that possibility is fast becoming a reality. Specifically, the listing is calling for a Principal Program Manager in “LIVE Engagement.” This same listing mentions that Microsoft is “connecting players via the LIVE services on new devices beyond the console” and, more explicitly, asks for someone to “drive the platform and bring Xbox LIVE enabled games to Windows Mobile.” The Principal Program Manager is expected to focus on “what makes gaming experiences ‘LIVE Enabled’ through aspects such as avatar integration, social interactions, and multi-screen experiences.” Granted, there’s no way to tell how soon it will arrive, but it looks like Xbox Live and WinMo devices are destined to be together, eventually. Engadget says Xbox 360 helped define the decade
by BinyIgnitioge on Dec.30, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games
It’s pretty adorable listening to our electronics-obsessed sister site Engadget talk about video games, a sensation not unlike listening to a music professor trying to connect with students over the latest Jay-Z album. (“Say kids, isn’t this track vibin ‘?!”) But we think they nailed it with their inclusion of the Xbox 360 in their “Ten gadgets that defined the decade” list. The piece reminds that the system’s success seemed all but impossible at its launch, with a weaker feature set than the PS3 and a for-pay online service

Prope announces Ivy the Kiwi? for Windows Mobile?

This could be really big news. Yuji Naka’s studio, Prope, revealed what is likely to be the “Sonic-like” game mentioned last year. And Ivy the Kiwi?, the studio’s new game (the question mark is part of the title), has some interesting mechanics: the game uses drawn lines to propel a character, sort of like Kirby’s Canvas Curse or Wireway, but lets players anchor one side of the line and move the other endpoint around while Ivy’s on it, for finer control of the character’s movement

Glu also sticking Guitar Hero 5, Blur, Tony Hawk: Ride on cell phones

Activision has stuck with Glu for bringing more than just Modern Warfare 2 to mobile phones. Gamasutra reports that the studio will also create keypad-friendly versions of Guitar Hero 5 , Blur and Tony Hawk: Ride for release this year, although we have to question how closely the gameplay of the latter with adhere to that of the peripheral-based console version. Again, these ports are all for mobile phones , not gaming handhelds masquerading as such, iPhone ! (Which, when you think of it , would seem ideally suited for Ride .) They’re being made for handsets running Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Java-based operating systems
