The guys over at www.xboxsolution.com have gotten together with Bang Camaro for an exclusive Podcast interview. Bang Camaro appear in Guitar Hero II and Rock Band. Bang Camaro is a heavy metal band from Boston, Massachusetts founded by guitarists Bryn Bennett and Alex Necochea and composed of members of various indie rock bands from around the area.

The band is composed of a bassist, a drummer, three guitarists, and anywhere from ten to fifteen vocalists comprising a full choir of lead singers. The band’s music is somewhat similar in style to ’80s metal and glam rock. The basic song structure employed by the band does away with traditional verses in order to highlight catchy choruses and integrate as many guitar solos as possible.

The result has been described by the band as, “taking everything we loved about the genre, and throwing everything out that we hated.” The band cites Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly as influences in addition to hard rock bands like Iron Maiden and Dokken. “I would call us anthem rock,” said Alex Necochea. “We’re really not heavy metal. I think our focus is more on writing great singles, as best as we can make them. That’s just something Bryn and I grew up on. We’re big fans of melody and big driving hooks, that sort of thing.

Explicit content warning: As with all of XBS podcasts, they carry an explicit label for a reason, use parental discretion, not recommended for a younger audience.

OK now that you know who Bang Camaro is, let me tell you a little bit about www.xboxsolution.com , Jason Rybka started the site back in 2002. Jason was and still is to this day heavily into gaming. He got the idea to create the site because at the time their were plenty of sites that catered to the gaming community, but they were full of pop-ups and so-forth.

At that time Jason had just got the original X-Box and decided to create a gaming community of his own. Here it is 6 years later and the XBS site is still growing. At XBS you will be able find well written content and easy to follow cheats for the X-Box, X-Box 360, and Podcasts. Well I don’t want to spoil all the fun for you, so after you listen to the Podcast take a look around.

Okay it is Friday night and you plan on sitting down to watch The DVD that you just paid $29.99 for. You are subjected to the countless number of previews at the beginning of the disk, no problem, you simply skip forward to the movie. You get a quarter of the way through the movie and a commercial pops up pushing some useless product that you could care less about. At first you say what the heck is going on? This is a DVD, there isn’t suppose to be any commercials! You try to skip forward and your player does not respond. So what is really going on?

A group of bloggers over at Zatz Not Funny have obtained a patent application from the folks over at IBM that allows for non-skippable ads at any point on a DVD. Sweet Huh?

So what does the patent filing actually allow? It means that here in the near future they could embed a DVD with a certificate that determines whether the disc should be played with advertisements, and if the DVD is flagged for ads, the non-skippable ads or commercials could run at any point during the video. The commercials could be grabbed directly from the net (if the DVD Player is connected to the net) such as a pc with a built in DVD Player, or the commercials could come pre-loaded with the content on the disc.

Before we start ranting and raving, this patent with IBM was filed over a year ago. So lets hope that this hair-brained idea will never see its way onto our DVD’s. Who knows maybe this will only be implemented on the budget DVD’s and the free DVD’s; you know the cheap DVD’s at your local retailer, instead of the $29.99 versions.

If that is the case that is fine with me. But what if downloading these new ads from the net becomes a reality, this could possibly entice advertisers that have been lax-ed to purchase commercial time on the DVD’s in the past, to start peddling their ads on to you. Presently most DVD players are not connected to the net, currently there are those Ethernet ready HD DVD players on the market and lets not forget that Blu-Ray players could connect to the net here in the very near future. With that being said, it is very possible that we may see DVD movies with pre-loaded content here in the near future. Also if these commercial filled DVD’s hit the market, will the prices drop?? “I would think not”!

What are your thoughts on these preloaded commercials? Is it fair that we could pay $29.99 for our next DVD and be bombarded with commercials?

OK, so I’m just about done with my XM Radio trial that came with the car I recently leased. So do I go ahead and shell out the cash to keep the service, or do I pass on it?

I’m leaning towards signing up for the service, since it also includes XM Radio Online, which means that in addition to while in the car, I can listen to XM while at the PC.

The problem, it’s about 13 bucks a month if you pay monthly, of course there are lower rates for ordering a longer subscription period. Honestly, I think I’m gonna go ahead and subscribe, I’ve been much happier listening to XM in the car than I thought I would be.

How about you, what do you think of these pay for play radio services such as XM and Sirius?

ESPN signs a deal which will enable them to provide full length games and TV shows for your Xbox 360.

ESPN will be offering full-length NCAA football, basketball games, Summer X Games 13, and episodes of such ESPN shows as World Series of Poker, The Contender and Madden Nation. These are just a few of the selections available through your Xbox Live Marketplace, and all thanks to ESPN.

ESPN has been on Xbox Live’s main rival in video downloads, Apple’s iTunes, since January 2006

“This is only the second deal ESPN has done regarding electronic sell-through, and we think it’s a fantastic match for our platform and our consumer base, many of whom are avid sports fans,” said Ross Honey, senior director of the media and entertainment group at Microsoft.

The pricing for the ESPN content will range from $2 for standard-definition episodes of “Contender” and “Poker” to $2.40 for HD versions. Two-hour football and basketball games will be available within days of their original airing and be priced at $3 for standard definition and $4.50 for HD.

This Friday Wal-Mart will be offering the Toshiba HD DVD A2 for just under $100, this is a “secret in store special.” The Toshiba HD DVD A2 normally retails for $299. This price will Include five free movies by mail. In the past Best Buy had sold the same player for $100 and sold out with in the day of the sale.

Kmart says they are dropping Blu-ray:

Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City, and Amazon.com have been selling the Toshiba A2 player for just under $200, While the original price had been $299. Presently the cheapest Blu-Ray player is around $375. Some people predict that around the holidays the average ticket price will be around $350. The retail chain Kmart will be lowering the price of their Blu-Ray players. They will only be offering HD DVD players this coming holiday season. Although they are still going to sell the PlayStation 3, This has A Blu-Ray player. Some people speculate that the average consumer will not really be to interested until the players are under $200.

The average consumer will probably shell out $79 for a DVD player, but if given the chance to purchase a HD DVD for an extra $20; they would probably jump all over it.With this kind of price and all the movies and popular TV shows that are being rolled out, this is just what needs to happen if HD DVD wants to win this battle.

Blu-Ray is not giving up yet:

Back in august HD had been boosted thanks to Paramount. Paramount agreed to back the HD DVD format exclusively. Later, reports surfaced stating that the studio received a $150 million cash payment and promotional guarantees from the HD format backers and that, the deal was only good for 18 months. Paramount had previously been hedging its bets by backing both formats. Blu-Ray has not given up yet. Recently Home Media Magazine stated that 2.6 million Blu-Ray discs were sold from January to September, and 1.4 million HD DVD discs sold. Blu-Ray has done so well thanks to the PlayStation 3.

Rumor also has it that HD has also taken a large lead in the number of Laptop computers with this format.
