Glu also sticking Guitar Hero 5, Blur, Tony Hawk: Ride on cell phones
by kin0shn1k on Jun.25, 2009, under BlackBerry, Cell Phones, Gadgets, Media, Video Games, Windows, iPhone
Activision has stuck with Glu for bringing more than just Modern Warfare 2 to mobile phones. Gamasutra reports that the studio will also create keypad-friendly versions of Guitar Hero 5 , Blur and Tony Hawk: Ride for release this year, although we have to question how closely the gameplay of the latter with adhere to that of the peripheral-based console version. Again, these ports are all for mobile phones , not gaming handhelds masquerading as such, iPhone ! (Which, when you think of it , would seem ideally suited for Ride .) They’re being made for handsets running Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Java-based operating systems

Glu developing Modern Warfare 2 for mobile phones
by coirdov on Jun.25, 2009, under BlackBerry, Gadgets, Media, Video Games, Windows, iPhone
It’s true that we haven’t played a “video game” on a cellular device (at least, one that wasn’t an iPhone) since our lengthy Snake sessions back in 1999 — though we imagine there’s a contingency of folks out there who get excited for mobile adaptations of console games. For instance, you may find yourself thrilled about Glu’s next mobile project — a version of Modern Warfare 2 that’s coming to Androids, Blackberrys, BREWs, J2MEs and Windows Mobile phones in Q4 of this year.

Open world meets under water in new Oblivion, Bioshock bundle
by HefZoowReek on Jun.17, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games, Windows
Bethesda, proprietor of large, navigable worlds both post-apocalyptic and, uh, pre-apocalyptic, has teamed up with 2K Games to offer a gaming bundle not seen since the days of the original Xbox, when you could get Jet Set Radio and Sega GT together in one convenient package. 2K and Bethesda are bundling Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Bioshock together for Xbox 360 and Windows PC, for $39.99 and $29.99, respectively, starting July 7. The press release was unclear on which version of Oblivion this is (Game of the Year edition?), so we’ve sent word for a comment regarding that. Open world meets under water in new Oblivion, Bioshock bundle originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 17 Jun 2009 15:35:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds

Ubisoft gives clearer picture of Splinter Cell, Red Steel release dates
by misterandersonsik on May.27, 2009, under Gadgets, Media, Video Games, Windows
We still have no idea why it’s taken Sam Fisher so long to return to us, but at least now we have a better idea of when he’ll be back. Ubisoft narrowed the release date for Splinter Cell: Conviction to Q3 of this fiscal year (between November 2009 between December 2009) in a conference call this morning. We also got narrower release windows for games like Assassin’s Creed 2 (Q3), Red Steel 2 (Q3) and Ghost Recon 4 (Q4)
